Johns Hopkins Hospitals Offering ICD-10 Readiness Course

All six of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s academic and community hospitals will be offering a course in ICD-10 readiness for medical record coders. The course, Anatomy & Physiology for Coders, presented by medical record coding, audit, and educational services vendor Barry Libman Inc., is set to be offered at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, All Children’s Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and Suburban Hospital.

All six of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s academic and community hospitals will be offering a course in ICD-10 readiness for medical record coders. The course, Anatomy & Physiology for Coders, presented by medical record coding, audit, and educational services vendor Barry Libman Inc., is set to be offeredat the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, All Children’s Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and Suburban Hospital. 

The course is accessible online, 24/7, and spans 12 weeks. In it, Barry Libman says students will get a complete look at the major body systems, and also learn about common diseases and disorders, frequently prescribed drugs, and common laboratory tests. It will include lesson notes, multi-media videos, interactive educational games, full-color anatomical drawings, quizzes, and weekly assessments.  

The course has received prior approval for 24 continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and six continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
