The Englewood, Colo.-based nationwide health system, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) has announced it is teaming with Arlington, Va.-based consulting and technology services firm, Accenture to implement analytics capabilities in healthcare facilities in 17 states. The idea behind this nine-month initiative will be to identify at-risk factors among patient populations to improve care delivery and to better monitor patient health.
In addition, CHI hopes the effort will streamline clinical operations for more efficient care management. It will also aim to enhance data warehouse capabilities and information management governance. The initiative is an extension of CHI’s current analytics strategy, and will platform that can be applied to future quality measurement programs, including care management, clinical integration, managed care and value-based purchasing initiatives.
“This effort will advance our existing data and information management capabilities to better manage the health of populations,” Evon Holladay, vice president of enterprise intelligence at CHI, said in a statement. “By identifying at-risk population groups, such as the uninsured and Medicare recipients, we can provide precise interventions that will improve overall patient care and quality of life.”
In the past few months, other notable healthcare institutions have also announced big initiatives in analytics. niversity of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) health system announced a five-year, $100 million enterprise healthcare analytics initiative to foster personalized medicine and other core strategic healthcare IT goals for the organization. The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) announced its investing in analytics software for brain injury treatment.
