Boston-based company said its athenaOne is the only EHR that supports multiple AI-powered ambient models simultaneously

EHR developer Athenahealth has introduced Ambient Notes, a solution designed to reduce the burden of clinical note documentation. The company also has developed an EHR, revenue and practice management solution tailored to the needs of orthopedic practices.

The Boston company said its athenaOne is the only EHR that supports multiple AI-powered ambient models simultaneously, practices, and that clinicians can switch seamlessly between industry-leading models based on individual needs and preferences.

All athenaOne users using Ambient Notes will be able to select from multiple ambient note models, all integrated directly into the athenaOne experience. Initial available models are:
• Suki AI - Suki's flagship product Suki Assistant uses generative AI to tackle administrative tasks including documentation, coding, and answering questions. Suki Assistant is used by over 300 health systems and clinics across 99 specialties.
• iScribe - iScribeHealth offers a combination of AI, speech-to-text and patented EHR integration technology.

Ambient Notes is currently in limited release with select athenahealth customers and will be available for all athenaOne customers in early 2025.

Orthopedists often balance their time between routine office visits and performing surgeries, so it is critical to have a comprehensive solution and workflows that are tailored to their specific needs, the company said.

“Given the dynamic nature of orthopedic practices, athenaOne for Orthopedics has been tailored to truly meet the unique needs of orthopedists with ongoing investments aimed at enhancing efficiencies, cultivating patient engagement, and optimizing financial performance, factors vital to a successful, high-performing orthopedic practice,” said Chad Dodd, vice president of product management at athenahealth, in a statement.

“There is no one-size-fits-all approach to how physicians work, and we appreciate that athenahealth understands the dynamics of our specialty and has developed athenaOne for Orthopedics based on customer feedback to create something that truly speaks to our needs,” said Anthony Brooks, CEO of OrthoLoneStar, the largest independent orthopedic practice in Texas, in a statement.  “Orthopedics is a highly competitive field, and it is important for us to have access to the latest technology, tools, and resources so that we can remain focused on running a profitable practice that delivers high-quality care to our patients. athenahealth has been a vital partner in improving our practice’s efficiency, and we look forward to the continued investments in athenaOne for Orthopedics to further support orthopedists and enhance the quality of life for our patients.”

Key features of athenaOne for Orthopedics are designed to address the specifi needs of orthopedic providers, and that users have access to athenaOne Mobile, equipped with orthopedic-specific in-office workflows.

AthenaHealth said athenaOne for Orthopedics streamlines authorizations and provides robust billing workflows to help practices optimize financial performance and navigate their intricate reimbursement landscape.
