Nebraska HIE to Offer Individuals Health Information Across Providers

March 23, 2022
My CyncHealth, to be released in the second quarter, will provide each Nebraskan, and those who receive care in Nebraska, their health information from all their visits in one place

One limitation of patient portals is that many patients find they must have portals with multiple health systems and the data isn’t easily aggregated. Health information exchanges haven’t yet played a central role in providing patients a unified view of their health data across provider organizations. But nonprofit Nebraska HIE CyncHealth is out to change that.

CyncHealth announced that the organization will provide Nebraskans access to their health data through My CyncHealth, a web-based application that brings an individual’s health information from multiple providers into one place to be accessed and used as they see fit. My CyncHealth will provide each Nebraskan, and those who receive care in Nebraska, their health information from all their visits in one place.

"Health data belongs to the patient. The data only exists because of the individual and is collected to serve the patient experience and outcome. We are bridging the gap across providers to put citizens firmly in the owner's seat of their health information," said Jaime Bland, D.N.P., R.N., CyncHealth President and CEO, in a statement. "My CyncHealth is an important step in putting the power of an individual's health information in their hands. We are excited to serve Nebraskans through this application."

My CyncHealth is currently being tested with a small population of volunteers and will be released to the public in the second quarter of 2022.

At release, users will be able to:

  • Access comprehensive medication history from all reporting pharmacies
  • View immunization records
  • View lab results
  • Self-screen and -refer for social and community resources

In future updates, users will:

  • Have their data from primary care/specialist visits
  • Be able to connect their children/guardians to their account for easy access to approved health information

Individuals who create an account will complete an identity verification process, which ensures they are accessing their health information and not another citizen's information. All health information displayed comes from:

• CyncHealth participating healthcare entities (i.e. the healthcare entity shares data through CyncHealth with other authorized participants)

• State of Nebraska, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

• State of Nebraska, Nebraska State Immunization Information System (NESIIS)

• CyncHealth’s social determinants of health referral platform
