Health IT security company Imprivata and Microsoft are partnering on the creation of an identity and access management (IAM) cloud platform.
During the first phase of the collaboration, launched just a few days ago, a newly-developed solution will eliminate the need for clinical and non-clinical Microsoft users to repeatedly type usernames and passwords to access any programs and applications, officials attest.
As the first phase of the collaboration, the Lexington, Mass.-based Imprivata has launched Healthcare Seamless SSO, an enterprise single sign-on into on all shared clinical workstations and mobile devices. The solution extends the “tap-in and tap-out” capabilities of a previous Imprivata solution, OneSign, that enables badge tap access into Office 365 and any application connected to Microsoft Azure active directory, officials say.
Because Healthcare Seamless SSO eliminates the need for all Microsoft users to repeatedly type usernames and passwords to access programs, Imprivata officials say that care providers can save 45 minutes every shift.
At HIMSS19 this past February, Imprivata similarly announced that it would be partnering with Google Cloud to enable Chrome devices to work with its single sign-on and virtual desktop access platform for healthcare.
“We’re delighted to announce this strategic collaboration with Microsoft and to introduce the Imprivata IAM Cloud Platform, which first brings the simplicity of Tap-In and Tap-Out to the cloud, and seamlessly supports access to Microsoft cloud applications like Microsoft Office 365 and more for our 1,945 healthcare customers,” said Gus Malezis, President and CEO at Imprivata.
