Cybersecurity Study by Kyndryl and AWS Calls for Increased Awareness
In a press release on Tuesday, October 22, Kyndryl, an IT infrastructure services provider, announced the results of its new cybersecurity survey, which it conducted with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The global study Cyber Gauge 2024: Navigating the Complex Cybersecurity Landscape surveyed over 600 enterprises and found a disconnect between readiness and preparedness. Kyndryl underscored the need for more robust cyber resilience strategies that protect against threats and ensure business continuity.
Over the last year, over half of large organizations reported experiencing a cyberattack that disrupted IT systems, the survey found. “Despite 94 percent of organizations feeling prepared to mitigate cyberattacks, 71 percent believe they are likely to experience a disruptive incident within the next year that will impact their financial performance,” the press release stated.
The top concerns mentioned by the surveyed organizations were preparedness for threats such as artificial intelligence (AI) attacks, securing hybrid cloud environments, and managing multiple security solutions. Companies mentioned a lack of support from business leaders to implement security measures.
A large percentage (72 percent) of organizations reported a lack of clear business continuity road maps. Over half of the organizations indicated concern over remote work straining security teams. Budget restrictions and security skills shortages were also mentioned as challenges.
“The survey findings reveal a complex cyber threat landscape where businesses face persistent threats despite feeling prepared,” said Kris Lovejoy, global security & resiliency practice leader of Kyndryl, in a statement. “With more than half of organizations experiencing disruptive incidents in the last year, it is imperative that businesses make cyber resilience a board-level priority. Achieving this is not a one-time effort but an ongoing commitment to safeguarding our digital future.”
