Despite increasing its revenue 2.6 percent, Chicago-based Allscripts Healthcare Solutions posted a third-quarter loss of $5.2 million, the company reported this week.

Allscripts, which is the third largest electronic health record (EHR) vendor, reported third quarter revenue at $354.5 million, up from $345.5 million in the same time period last year.

The company’s reported net loss in the third quarter improved on the $25.8 million loss it posted in the third quarter of 2014. The company’s loss per share was 3 cents, and earnings came to 13 cents per share.

On a positive note, bookings in this past quarter grew to $272 million, marking a third-quarter record and a 22 percent increase from $223 million in the third quarter of 2014. Bookings have increased 13 percent year-to-date to $768 million.

“Total bookings were at record levels for a third quarter, driven by a healthy mix of sales across major software solution categories and value-added services. We added major new EHR clients in the US and United Kingdom and expanded strategic partnerships with key ambulatory clients such as Catholic Health Initiatives,” Paul Black, CEO of Allscripts, said in a statement.

The company said it expects year-end 2015 revenue between $1.39 and $1.405 billion.
