Baxter continues to try to restore operations at its North Carolina manufacturing plant

The Deerfield, Ill.-based Baxter International has given new updates on its North Cove manufacturing site, which was significantly impacted by Hurricane Helene.

For starters, Baxter has constructed a temporary bridge that has “transported more than 825 truckloads of finished product off site and to customers.” In addition, progress continues to be made on a second temporary bridge, which is “currently estimated to be completed in early November” and will enable “additional truck and equipment traffic to enter and leave the site.”

Baxter has also received “FDA authorization to extend the use dates of 50+ IV and irrigation codes to provide up to an additional 12 months of expiry. Products now have a 24-month expiry period from the date of manufacture. This extension only applies to products manufactured prior to the end of September 2024. Details have been communicated directly to customers.”

Distribution plans for products authorized for temporary importation have been communicated to customers. Specific resources and training are being provided to customers receiving product imported to the U.S.
