The Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO), which is the designated state health information exchange (HIE) entity, has announced that its policy director, Liza Fox-Wylie, has been selected to become Colorado’s State health information technology director.  In this role, Fox-Wylie will provide strategic leadership for Colorado’s HIT initiatives across state agencies and lead coordination between the state, non-state HIT initiatives and federally-funded HITECH programs.

In addition, Fox-Wylie will continue her involvement with CORHIO, meeting regularly with the organization’s leadership and program staff on strategic initiatives, representing State HIT programs at CORHIO board meetings, serving on CORHIO committees and advisory groups and through implementation of the state’s HIE implementation plan.  She will transition to the role of State HIT Director over the next two months.

“Liza has been a tremendous asset to CORHIO, leading the organization’s collaborative programs with State Medicaid and public health, developing strategies to integrate behavioral health and HIE and managing various other policy initiatives,” Jim Shmerling, chair of CORHIO’s board of directors, said in a statement.

“I’m honored to have been a part of the impressive accomplishments CORHIO has achieved over the past few years. We’ve come a long way in adopting and utilizing HIT across the Colorado health community, but we still have a lot to do. I look forward to continuing this challenging and exciting work with my CORHIO colleagues in a new capacity,” Fox-Wylie said in a statement.
