Across the globe, the demand for healthcare is surging. Along with it is an increasing number of consumerminded patients, all with growing expectations. As the gap between supply and demand widens, everyday frustrations fuel clinician and patient dissatisfaction. Bridging the gap in healthcare requires technology solutions that can help caregivers deliver more care, with fewer frustrations.
Healthcare technology shouldn’t step on the performance of other systems or trample on the purpose of those who use them. Too often, they promise control and efficiency, but in the act of solving one issue, they add clunky layers of process in other areas. Instead of delivering the interoperability your team is counting on, you get burdened with a tangle of additional tasks that can detract from your goals, lead to errors, and place unwanted strain on healthcare professionals.
Zebra Technologies innovates with interoperable technology designed with caregivers in mind. By directly collaborating and working with healthcare facilities and their staff, we’re able to provide them with the solutions they need to address the issues that matter most to them. Our solutions address insights we learned by studying healthcare facilities' workflows and the way their teams communicate and collaborate. We weave three core principles into every design: caregiver centric, unifying, and restorative.
Caregiver-centric design is about streamlining workflows to avoid unnecessary steps and risky workarounds. Unifying solutions remove silos of information allowing clinicians to connect with patient health records, medications, and test results all in real-time. And a restorative approach includes easy, manageable solutions that work intuitively to end frustration and restore time and focus on patients.
Zebra’s CS60-HC Series Healthcare Companion Scanner, with a first-of-its-kind convertible design, helps clinicians adapt to any workflow. The CS60-HC scanner was designed to easily convert between corded and cordless applications and can also be used handheld or hands-free as workflows change. This capability allows clinicians to handle multiple tasks without the need to switch devices or stop what they’re doing.
When used as a cordless scanner, the CS60-HC supports nurse-carry workflows such as positive patient identification and medication administration. As a corded scanner it can be used in pharmacies, lab stations or electronic medical record access and specimen verification reporting. The CS60-HC not only streamlines workflows with its purposebuilt design that can withstand repeated wipe downs to comply with infection control procedures, but also allows providers to equip their associates with devices that help ensure patient safety and comfort at every step of the journey. The two inductive sensing touch buttons can be programmed to instantly toggle between two host applications, creating effortless multi-tasking for clinicians. When used in night mode, a quick press of the trigger on the CS60-HC toggles between an audible beep and vibration making sure clinicians instantly know if a medicine vial or wristband was successfully scanned and a built-in workstation lamp illuminates nurse workstation to avoid turning on overhead lights. These night mode capabilities allow clinicians to scan patients and medication without disrupting patients, further improving their quality of care.
The CS60-HC companion scanner also includes Zebra’s DataCapture DNA suite of productivity, management, application development and visibility tools. DataCapture DNA includes Blood Bag Parse+, which captures and parses barcode data on blood bags and UDI Scan+ which completes the traceability of medical devices – all in one trigger pull. It is also engineered to deliver several key features for healthcare environments including contactless Qi charging, NFC pairing, mounting options for clinician workstations, a workstation lamp and a green LED aimer that is safe to use throughout the hospital.
Several healthcare customers have shared positive feedback of the device including its lanyard accessory option, overall performance, and inductive sensing buttons. In addition, several medication dispensary cart manufacturers are incorporating the CS60-HC into an OEM offering that will further contribute to unburdening the delivery of care and help clinicians adapt to any workflow. All of these features resulting in improved patient safety and enhanced patient experiences, are captured in a partner testimonial from Travis Chun, Vice President of Operations, MGM Solutions: “Some of the most popular use cases we’re seeing for the CS60-HC right now is for point of care environments, especially in places where nursing carts are being utilized. The flexibility of the CS60-HC makes it easy for healthcare workers to switch between USB and batch modes, as needed.”
Workflows don’t stop at the bedside — they’re interconnected throughout the entire facility. Zebra’s expansive solutions remove silos, working in concert to accomplish more within every role. When you give your team more power to solve things efficiently, they’ll gain more time for care. Zebra’s highly interoperable, purpose-built technology does just that — from admissions to discharge, from the pharmacy and lab into the operating and supply rooms, and more. With data capture solutions for every touchpoint helping to elevate the quality of care, it can only lead to better patient outcomes. When clinicians adopt technology that works for them, they can better solve for all areas of healthcare holistically.
