Cerner to Integrate Patient-Generated Data into Clinical Systems
Cerner, the Kansas City, Mo.-based electronic health record (EHR) vendor, will integrate its EHR and patient portal with patient-generated data, using a digital health platform from the Durham, N.C.-based Validic.
Validic, a cloud-based platform that provides access to several known suppliers of patient-generated data devices, will send that information to Cerner’s personal health portal and their EHR. Cerner becomes one of the first major EHR vendors to integrate patient-generated data, an emerging consumer-based trend thanks to the emergence of devices and platforms from companies like FitBit, Jawbone, and major tech companies like Apple and Google.
"Given Validic is device- and platform-agnostic, our alignment provides a much broader reach to clinical and wellness data to help propel our digital health strategy to health care organizations we serve, including the acceleration of remote patient monitoring, telehealth, and wellness initiatives,” Brian Carter, senior director and general manager of personal health at Cerner, said in a statement.
