UT Health Austin’s Miri Moving to Baptist Health
Aaron Miri, M.B.A., who has served as chief information officer for the University of Texas at Austin’s Dell Medical School and UT Health Austin, has joined 11-hospital Baptist Health as senior vice president and chief digital and information officer.
In this newly created position, Miri will focus on South Florida-based Baptist Health’s digital strategy, innovation, cybersecurity, and integration of technology across the enterprise.
Miri serves as co-chairman on the federal Health IT Advisory Committee (HITAC). In 2016, the Obama Administration appointed Miri to serve on the Health IT Policy Committee established under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. He is an advisor to the National Academy of Medicine and serves on many not-for-profit boards.
"Aaron brings a wealth of experience in health care and information technology to our executive team," said Michael Mayo, D.H.A., president and CEO of Baptist Health, in a statement. "He has a track record of transforming care delivery for consumers, patients, and providers by collaborating with clinicians, internal stakeholders and technology partners."
"Incorporating key digital strategies into the IT roadmap is about engagement and making things easier for everyone, so caregivers and patients alike can get the information they need, when, where and how they want it," said Miri in a statement. "My goal is to humanize technology to solve problems in new ways and help to accomplish transformational strategic goals."
Miri’s roles prior to UT Austin include CIO for Imprivata, a health care IT company based in Boston; CIO for Walnut Hill Medical Center in Dallas; and chief technology officer for Children's Health System of Texas in Dallas.
